Meat Recall Makes Consumers Think and Grow Angry
Feb 25th, 2008 by Teri
Just when you think things are getting better, we get the back slap of news that now meat for human consumption is being recalled, to the tune of 140 million pounds which has found its way into the food chain.
Its enough to make you a vegetarian for life, which is basically the best diet you could ever consume. I could not watch the cattle being subjected to such cruelty on the news reports and really I could not even mouth the words my mind was contemplating during this violation of human decency. I still can not talk about it and I will not mention it again, it makes me ill just to describe what is happened in the food supply of North America for both humans and pets.
Violations are going on in every aspect of the meat industry or this would never have happened. If federal regulators are not doing their job then we are all at risk of the illnesses such as mad cow disease, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, and many other diseases that are allowed to enter into the food supply chain.
I just do not believe the USDA is being truthful that this tainted product cannot cause illnesses in human consumption. It is not surprising after the pet food recalls of last year that it was just the tip of the iceberg of what is wrong with food inspections in the United States.
The one statement that makes you think and grow angry, is that the 140 million pounds of meat has already been consumed. Doesn’t that just make you mad enough to vow to never eat beef again? Its should and consumers grow angry and wonder what will food producers hit us with next, I shudder to think about it.
