I think it's really one of the worst things that can happen to a ca human being - loosing your eyesight. Especially at this young age... I cannot even imagine that would happen to anyone I know or me personally. Every operation like this can be considered as a huge success for the man kind! Now if only we had no hypocrats and no wars...and now wars that kill millions, our civilisation as a whole would be so much happier.

Thank you for your comment Barbara. Yes if we can proceed with stem cell research many diseases would not plague us in the future and that requires us to support politicians that promote good health not back corporations from making money on people's sickness.

Wow Teri,
What a wonderful article. Like with many things though, if only we could get the politicians to move on the important issues. That too would be a miracle.

It boggles the mind Hype. Using the bodies own stem cells eliminates rejection problems as with transplants. With cord blood usually it would be tossed in the garbage, and as in Tre's case it saved his eyesight. Its a win win for everyone without the use of drugs, surgeries, pain and suffering which are a thing of the past if we only put our research into stem cells. The possibilities of healing almost every sickness, and disease known to mankind and the animal kingdom - I think is worth every penny. Let us see if the politicians really get it right this time. Thanks for your comment.

This is definitely an area where more research would give potentially massive returns. I guess like most "unknowns" the reality is clouded by uninformed opinions and much will need to be done to convince the public that such treatment is ethical.
