Most manufactured dog foods contain sugar, corn or sorbital which are all sugar based additives or ingredients. I would check your product, which one are you using?

Canine diabetes is usually based on diet and it has become an epidemic today. I would either go with a natural raw diet, or lightly cooked organ meats, with a grain and 2 vegetables. Other choices are to use: holistic dog foods, that do not contain chemicals, preservatives, sugars, by products, and fillers.

Go to your nearest Health food store or to the alternative section of your pet food store and ask them for this type of no chemical food for your dog. The brands may be different depending on where you live therefore I can't recommend a particular brand.

See these articles in Archives on dog foods that I have written and this one below:

Hope this helps and please let me know how you are doing with the new food.
Cheers

My dog is a diabetic and I have to give him 2 shots of insulin a day.
Can you recommend a dog food that would be good for him, perhaps something with no carbohydrates. It is my understanding with the proper diet, one can elimenate this problem.

Thank you for you response.

This is an eye opener I know there are alot of dog blogs out there, most of them are not real people, they are paid for by companies. I enjoy so much of what I read here on your's Teri, there is valuable information on yours and you are not a commercialized dog blog.
Am a great fan of going back to nature as I have my dogs now on a raw food diet, and they are much healthier for it.
I guess the pet food manufacturers can't make money on a raw dog food diet, so they use left overs from rendering plants which is useless dead meat. Garbage in ...garbage out.
Thanks for the great article.
