Dear Sharon: It sounds like your young pup needs some good training and its hard to say what training you have started with him but he is at the right age for basic training. Either enroll him into a training school near you or start the process yourself. Do this as soon as possible Sharon - get a good training book and start with basic commands, sit, stay, fetch. You must teach the dog that you are the leader of the pack -not him. Teach him not to attack your other dogs by standing between the dogs and him. I am sure you can put some effort into training it will stop the aggressive behavior. Also buy some melatonin at your local health food store, it calms a dog naturally and is not a drug. Hope this helps your situation -but training for any breed of dog is very necessary if they are all to exist in the same household.

I was so happy to hear they were allowing Best Friends to give the Vick pits a second chance!I've been involved with this charity for a long while now and am happy to see they are getting some recognition. In fact I am doing Blogathon 2009 for them.

Thank you people for this story. Bless their little hearts and thanks to the people who fought for these dogs to have a good life.

Vick should shovel dog poop everyday.

NO LONGER A VICK SUPPORTER!

Hello Diana:
I am sure most of the readers share your feelings on people who do such horrible acts of violence towards animals -especially a defenseless dog. I share your sentiments about this story and I only can add that for every person who harms an animal -there are many more that would condemn such acts, and punish the individual through our justice system. There are equally thousands that would join us to rehabilitate and love these dogs enough to open up their homes and hearts. Teri

Thank you Karina I also felt better as I explored this story and found what a remarkable recovery these brave dogs have made inspite of it all. The dogs have taught us that no matter how brutal mankind can be towards animals, they still have the capacity to forgive and forget. It is a lesson for all of us to learn in life and I am inspired by their bravery to trust again. Teri

Hi Teri,

Thank you for sharing this story with us. I am glad to find out that most of the dogs were saved and adopted. That monster Micheal Vick ought to be shot for what he did to those dogs. To me, anyone who is cruel to an animal is more an animal than the animal itself.

Great story Teri and thanks for sharing.
